Unique is one word used to describe Paia and it applies to the town’s food too. The Flatbread Company serves up delicious flatbread pizza with pizzaz. Pizza toppings are organic and local. Some might find the topping pairings odd but they make for delicious pizza. Pizzas are cooked in a huge earthen oven viewable from most seats in the restaurant. Pizzas include Cheese and Herb, Homemade Sausage, Coevolution, Nitrate-Free Pepperoni and a local favorite, Kalua Pork. Many of the drinks also contain organic ingredients and fresh squeezed fruit, such as the Pineapple Mojito.
The Paia Maui location is one of ten Flatbread Company restaurants in the United States, with the others located in New England. The Flatbread Company locations are known for benefit nights, as the banners above the seating show the various benefit nights of the past. The Flatbread Company is located at 89 Hana Highway in Paia, just after the public parking lot on the righthand side if coming from Kahului or the airport.
Da Kitchen Express - Kihei
Those looking for a plate lunch of Hawaiian food need look no further than Da Kitchen. Da Kitchen offers many typical Hawaiian dishes with a side of potato-macaroni salad. A warning - visitors to Da Kitchen must come hungry because the plates are huge! Customers may want to share a plate or take some home to enjoy. The combo plates are especially large including either 2 (the Big Braddah Combo) or 3 (Sumotori Combo) entree choices. Favorites include Kalua Pork, Teriyaki Beef or Chicken, Chicken Katsu or Da “Lau Lau” Plate.
The Kihei location is located at the Rainbow Mall on South Kihei Road. Da Kitchen Express in Kihei is open daily from 9am - 9pm. Other Da Kitchen locations include Kahului and Honolulu.
Cheeseburger in Paradise - Lahaina
Located along Lahaina’s busy Front Street, Cheeseburger in Paradise is a great place to catch a meal and a great view of Lahania Harbor. As well as cheeseburgers, the extensive menu includes sandwiches, sliders, kalua pork, starters and tasty appetizers.
The drink menu is also extensive offering the typical tropical mai tais, as well as local microbrews such as Maui Brewing Company. The prices may be considered high especially for cheeseburgers but the ambiance and memories are worth the price. Shopping along Front Street can work up an appetite so stopping at Cheeseburger in Paradise is perfect pairing. The location celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2009 and the franchise now has locations in Nevada, Florida and Hawaii.
To find the Lahaina location, find Lahainaluna Road or Front Street and the restaurant is located right on the water. Parking can be found on Lahainaluna Road.
